Changes to the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program

On July 1 Governor Rauner signed a bill that extended the term of the Medical Cannabis Pilot Program into 2020. The bill also made a number of other changes to the current system, however. The new rules went into effect on August 1st and since many of the new regulations are only being sporadically reported here is a breakdown what is different in the program, as of today.

Facebook Unpublishes Salveo Health & Wellness Page

It’s been reported in many places over the last week that Facebook is removing pages of legal cannabis dispensaries across the country. Unfortunately, our page is among several Illinois dispensaries whose Facebook pages have just been taken down.

We are fully compliant with the law in the state of Illinois, and have appealed to have our page reinstated. However whether or not Facebook reinstates our page we will no longer be able to post product information, including daily menus, to Facebook. Going forward we will be posting menus daily to our blog. Please check back daily at to see what we have in stock.

We will continue working to find new and better ways to keep you all informed while trying to navigate the policies of the platforms that we use. We absolutely believe in the efficacy of medical cannabis and will continue to do everything we can to support and serve patients.

Medical Cannabis Patient Testimonials

At Salveo Health & Wellness we believe in the efficacy of medical cannabis. We believe that it can help patients ease symptoms that they’ve been struggling to live with, and can improve the quality of life for countless people. You don’t have to take our word for this, though. Here are some of our patients talking about how medical cannabis has allowed them to retake control of their health.

Medical Cannabis Will Be Available on November 9

HW_FC_D_StackedIt is with great happiness that we announce that Salveo Health & Wellness will be selling Medical cannabis starting tomorrow Monday November 9th at our dispensary located at 3104 North Main Street, in Canton, Illinois. We have received shipments today from four cultivators, and the state and Biotrack software are finishing up a few last minute items tonight. As long as there are no problems with any of these we are good to go.

We are providing temporary expanded hours of operations to give all our patients the time they deserve when visiting our dispensary. We will be open from 10am to 7pm Monday thru Sunday this week. We have 12 medical cannabis strains available as dry flower from several growers for sale. The number of strains we carry will grow from here and oil, concentrates, and edibles will follow down the line.

This website will be updated with information on the strains that will be available. Call us at 309-647-9333 if you have any questions about what will be in the store, about the best product to treat your condition, or about pricing.

Non-cardholders will be able to enter the front lobby where we have a range of wellness products and literature available.

Patients may come in for a consultation during these hours – with or without a card – or can contact us to schedule an appointment outside of these times.

Tues: Closed
Wed: 10am – 6pm

The first medical cannabis crops have been harvested, however the state of Illinois is still working through the final steps of bringing the program online including third-party testing of the medicine. The state has made it known that once it has completed its processes it will announce a state-wide start date, and has projected that this date will be in the next couple of weeks.

Though these delays have been unfortunate we hope that a few growing pains at the start of the medical cannabis program will mean fewer unexpected problems in the future. We are in the home stretch now, and cannot wait to serve you.

Medical Cannabis Availability Update

Salveo Health & Wellness will NOT have medicine available on Monday, November 2nd. We are ready to open, and growers have medicine available to ship, but the state is not ready to give them the go-ahead. It appears, based on the following post from the Illinois Department of Public Health, that the state will let everyone know a date by which dispensaries will be able to start serving patients.

Sorry for the delay, but it is 100% out of our control. We will continue to update this website and our Facebook page with additional information. As always, feel free to call us at 309-647-9333.

Please be advised that the State of Illinois will soon announce a state-wide start date for sales of medical cannabis at registered dispensaries. At this time, the Department of Public Health requests that qualifying patients and caregivers DO NOT CALL for information about when dispensaries will begin sales. An announcement will be posted on the website for the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program as well as the website for the Department of Public Health
